Description

Sole trustee Roger L. Putnam of Lowell Observatory informs Harvard College Observatory of a newly identified trans-Neptunian body which Lowell Observatory believes to be a new planet. After the amateur astronomer Clyde Tombaugh discovered the object, the astronomers at Lowell took more photos and conducted research to solidify what they hoped to be true: the existence of Percival Lowell's predicted "Planet X."
