Photo of Carl Lampland with the Clark Telescope ca. 1947. Percival Lowell commissioned Alvan Clark & Sons from his home state of Massachusetts to build the twenty-four inch telescope in 1896 for his study of Mars. The telescope was later used in the early search for Pluto.
