Description

This letter from Lowell Observatory's sole trustee, Roger L. Putnam, comes just one day after the announcement of Planet X's discovery, but it highlights the public attention that Planet X has already received. Putnam details the various news outlets, such as the Associated Press, that contacted him for more information regarding the new planet. He mentions the issues he experienced dealing with the press, but jokingly expresses his hopes for positive future interactions regarding the next planet that will be discovered by Lowell Observatory. Putnam praises the observatory for its choice to announce the discovery on Percival Lowell's birthday and refers to the positive reactions that Lowell's relatives had to the news. Putnam's letter also includes some name suggestions for the new planet, including "Diana" and "Atlas."
