Hubble contacted Slipher to ask if the report he had heard of Slipher observing spectrographic rotations of nebulae was true and, if so, how the work was going. Especially if he had published any of his findings, observing that there was a significant need for Spectrographic observations and that duplication was undesirable. He also inquired about specific stars and that he had observed a different rotation velocity on one particular star.
